Rebrand and PR to support Red Engineering diversification

Red Engineering - formerly known as Red Marine - is expanding into new business markets and is working with MHW to target its core offshore and marine media while also securing access to new sectors.

However, initially the Newcastle communications consultancy worked for several months with the directors of the former Red Marine to review the best routes to communicate change.

The growing Hexham-based engineering company has successfully operated within the oil, gas and marine sector for many years but wanted to reduce its exposure and expand into new business sectors where it had experience and transferable skills.

Working with boutique consultancy Room 8 Design, a new name and identity was developed to reflect the change. Working with the company, a marketing plan was devised, including the development of a new website, stronger social platforms and various marketing materials.

The culmination was a go-live day at NOF Energy's annual conference at Sage Gateshead where Red Engineering revealed its name on a new exhibition stand with fresh marketing materials to industry peers and customers.

Wayne Halton, PR director at MHW, explained: "We had a national conference launch event as a critical path to work back from. Project management was organised with both parties committed to delivering on a tight deadline.

"We've created a strong new brand for the business. The company intends to remain within the oil and offshore sector but they now have a name that will not hinder them targeting new sectors like renewables and nuclear decommissioning."

A media relations campaign - along with a stronger social media presence - has following the rebrand.
