Trinity Gardens, Newcastle

Trinity Gardens is today a well-established, modern mixed development - a central link between Newcastle city centre and its world famous Quayside. Back in 2000, when MHW PR was first engaged, the site was desolate, overgrown and gave little hint to the city apartments, offices, hotel, and chic restaurants that would bring this £55 million project to life.

MHW was tasked by the developer, Silverlink, with engaging with key stakeholders associated with the development, including the city council, and keeping all parties informed of progress during the preparation and construction stages on site.

A coordinated plan of regular meetings, presentations and site visits were organised around the early stages of the build.

Community relations activity was undertaken that included working with a local school on an art project along with an early launch event.

As construction got properly underway, milestones were identified that gave the basis of civic events and media opportunities to secure business press interest as the developer increasinly wanted to alert investors that residential, office and reatail opportunities would soon be available.

Landscaping and public art, key feature within the site from the very outset, we're also highlighted within the communications campaign to emphasise the unique look and atmosphere of this modern urban environment located around historic city walls and in a green, mature landscaped setting.

As individual buildings came to completion, MHW was actively involved with working alongside Silverlink directors and property agents in the marketing of landmark opportunities via regional business press and specialist media like Property Week and Estates Gazette.

Trinity Gardens was well received by the market; the city apartments sold off plan; grade A office space was quickly occupied and retail units were taken by both national brands and high-level regional restaurant operators like Terry Laybourne's 21 Hospitality Group.

All in all, the combination of a great location, a skillful development and proactive marketing made the project a great success.
