The initial task was clear: highlight the growing problems associated with alcohol misuse in the region; establish Balance as the regional 'voice' and authority on all alcohol-related matters; secure stakeholder support ... along with high media visibility.
Firstly, we helped design and deliver a high-profile launch event in Darlington, securing attendance of delegates along with branded materials for the day. Information fact-packs were developed and distributed to key stakeholders, partners and the media. This event achieved maximum regional media coverage.
To establish high visibility and media buy-in around the region, we organised a series of face-to-face meetings with editors and health correspondents.
We recognised the particular readership/listener interest of each media and developed bespoke fact-packs with supporting statistics and case studies for the different areas.
Following the launch MHW established a highly responsive and proactive press office function for Balance to maintain momentum and interest.
