When TallTree Pictures wanted help to promote crime movie Harrigan in the region in which it was based, the production company turned to MHW PR.
We were tasked with promoting the independent movie 'on the ground' to secure a successful build-up to a red-carpet premiere at Durham Gala Theatre and the following screenings at various North East cinemas in the final months of 2013.
Working alongside and supporting London-based PR film and arts specialist Porter Frith, we ensured media interest and coverage of Harrigan was maximised across the North East. In addition, MHW managed the social media platforms - Facebook and Twitter. For several months there was intense and active engagement with fans and followers - including competitions for signed merchandise and specially created T-shirts.
Filmed in and around the North East, the movie featured a number of well know TV and stage stars including Stephen Tompkinson, known for his roles in DCI Banks and Wild at Heart. Produced by TallTree Pictures and directed by Vince Woods, the movie received good reviews across the region and won a warm reception among national press. A trailer was screened at Cannes in 2013 and the movie was also shown to rave reviews at the Busan International Film Festival, in South Korea.
In early 2014, MHW organised a link-up and special screening with Live Theatre to coincide with the launch and availability of the DVD through retailers like HMV, Asda and Amazon. The sell-out event, which followed a similar one in London, featured a live performance from a singer who featured in the soundtrack, finishing with a lively Q&A session with the writer, director and Stephen Tompkinson.
